Once we finally got off the ship (which took a ridiculously long time) we were off and running around Stockholm again. We had from Sunday to Tuesday evening to squeeze it all in.
Our first stop was the Vasa Museum. The warship Vasa sank in the Stockholm harbour on its maiden voyage in 1628. It only sailed 1300 meters! After 333 years, it was raised to the surface in 1961 and was on display just months later. More than 95% of the ship is its original timber. Amazing!

| Originally, this was painted in bright colors. |
Our next stop was Skansen which is an open air museum and zoo highlighting the history of Sweden. It was founded in 1891 and is located on the island Djurgården. The very best part was spending the day with the Hildingsson family. Anna, Wendy, and I are friends from Brussels and the American Women's Club! Their family moved back to Sweden one year ago.

| The view from Skansen! |
| Our group taking over the place. |
| Reindeer are better than people.... |
| More gorgeous views of the city! |
| This was entertaining to watch. Chris was so good at it! Our kids.... |
| The struggle was real! |
| They got it! |
| Sweet Miss D. enjoying her ice cream! |
| Trying to get a picture of the kids. HILARIOUS!! |
| The whole crew! |
We took the ferry over to Gamla stan (Old Town) where Patrik and Anna live. They are SO lucky. I am in love with that area!
| Going past Gröna Lund. This amusement park is located in Stockholm and right along the water. |
| The Nobel Museum and a fabulous tour with our own guide Patrik. :) |
| The narrowest street in Stockholm. |
| I love these girls. Our time together in Stockholm was priceless!!! |
On Monday, we sent Thomas off with his friend Carl. Carl is a friend from ISB, and he had just moved home to Stockholm a few days before. They spent the day at Gröna Lund amusement park in spite of the rain.
And then, we were off to the ABBA Museum for some fun!
| We were awesome! LOL! |
Beautiful Stockholm
Monday night, it was an "adults only" trip to the ICEBAR. The kids only called about 15 times....
Tuesday, we took a boat tour and finished up seeing things around the city.
| Twelve days of touring is exhausting! |
It was a terrific trip! Thank you to the Schueremans family for sharing it with us. Being together made it even more special.
About six more weeks to wrap up in Brussels!
Until next time,
Wendy
Such a fun cruise you all had. It was great that Thomas was able to see his friend, and you also got to see yours. An ice bar??? That is pretty amazing. That would probably work great for me since I am always hot. :)
