We had not even stepped foot on this continent when my husband declared he would attend Oktoberfest before we moved home. The only thing that would make the experience better is if he could attend with his brothers. Well, his wish came true. He did, in fact, get to attend Oktoberfest in Munich with his brothers but also with his sister Mary. So, as they went galavanting across Germany, I held down the fort in Brussels (fine by me!)
Here is a recap of all the fun. I will do my best to give justice to this trip.....
They started out on a Monday. Their goal for the day was to make it to Stuttgart. They made it safely and the fun started.
| Warming up for the real thing. |
| Doing a little last minute shopping. |
Tuesday morning, they were off to Munich!
| Apparently, Chris had to park our car in a VERY small garage. Of course, Chris got all worked up, Jerry laughed, Mary took pictures....it all ended well with a beer (or so I assume.) |
| Big brother Tim arrived in Munich. They are all happy to be together and very thirsty. Time to get the party started. |
| Little did I know... I am married to lederhosen snob. Jerry brought an outfit from the US for Chris. It must not have been authentic enough, so now we have two. Chis has a Halloween costume for life. |
| First stop was the Hofbrauhaus. Cheers! |
| Dancing with the locals. |
| So the story goes...Jerry dared Chris $2 to sit with this group of girls. Some things never change. |
| So happy to be together. |
| Mary and friends |
Wednesday was the big day. They had tent tickets. Securing these tickets was actually a lengthy process, so I know there were high hopes for this part of the trip.
| Maybe we should take the kids next year and make them dress up. |
| In the tent! |
| A little foam to the face never hurt anyone. |
| The Hippodrome tent |
| Oh yes, that is MY MAN on a bench. Pretty sure that is not supposed to happen in the tent. |
| After the tent.... |
| Changed my mind...I'll be attending Oktoberfest next year. ;) |
| Oops...maybe you shouldn't hit the glasses that hard. |
| Amy Vastine, that is YOUR MAN standing on a bench in the tent. That probably isn't supposed to happen either. |
| Typical. |
Well, after all the shenanigans (and there was much more) there was need for a little dry fun on Thursday.
| BMW experience |
| and Olympic Park |
| That evening, the Oktoberfest fun ended back where it all started (sans lederhosen.) |
| I am happy to report they arrived home safely on Friday after a 10 hr drive (2.5 of which were spent in stopped traffic on the Autobahn due to an accident....not involving them.) |
Thank you to Jerry, Mary, and Tim for joining Chris in Europe and making his Oktoberfest dreams come true. I know he wouldn't want to experience it with anyone else. You're the best! Love you all!
Until next time,
Wendy
