Roald Dahl Day and More....

The third graders at ISB have done an extensive study of Roald Dahl over the last several weeks.  Today was their official Roald Dahl Day, and the parents were invited to watch skits created by each class.  Thomas' class did a funny little skit based on "The Witches".  They painted faces on paper with shredded newspaper for the hair to represent the characters in their play. Their teacher wore a shredded newspaper wig.  She told me when they walked in the room that morning, they were all so shocked because she was wearing LIPSTICK!  They didn't say a word about her crazy hair.  I just love third graders.  

So, here is Thomas standing up to say one of his lines.  His dialogue is on the screen and a close up picture of the face he created.

The ECC was outside for recess, and I loved how they were peeking in the cafeteria to watch the skits. 

And, here he is with his portrait.  For lunch, each child had to bring a Roald Dahl inspired dish to share with the other kids.  We made brownies, but of course they were called Mudpie Sweets with lots of repulsive ingredients inside.

We have had the most beautiful weather.  It has been in the 50s and 60s and SUNNY!  I love waking up to sunshine in the morning.  Talk about a mood changer!  After Thomas' skit, I went with two friends into Brussels to do some shopping.  It was the perfect day for it!

Allison will be excited about this place!

Now that it is getting warmer and sunny, everyone is flocking to the outdoor seating at the cafés.   We followed suit to enjoy this beautiful day.  We did switch tables a couple of times to stay in the sun because it got a little chilly in the shade.  Here is my delicious lunch.  It was a crepe with ham, mushrooms, and cheese.  It was delicious!  I must say, the food here is amazing!

After some fun in the city, it was back to pick up the kids.  Thomas dressed up as Mr. Twit for his class.  Here is his beard full of food (rice krispies and fake paper peas.)

And, it was an easy dinner tonight...deer sausage purchased in Germany, Gouda cheese from here in Belgium (popular here like cheddar at home), and Triscuits from the US.  It was a very diverse meal. :)
